Fayette County Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building

The Fayette County Memorial Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places​


 


In August 1947, the Fayette County Commission purchased the land on which the

Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building stands. The construction of the building started in 1949. 

It officially opened the doors in 1951. 


Not only is the Memorial Building a centerpiece of Fayette County, it honors the men and women of the

armed forces. Part of the Memorial Building is also the Fayetteville Branch of the Fayette County Public Library. 

Over the years the Memorial Building has served as a focal point for activities such as local sporting events,

entertainment performances, craft events, and circuses. Some of the key entertainment performances 

were: James Brown, The Grand Ole Opry, and The Harlem Globetrotters. 


Available for rent, the Memorial Building can be used for:

birthday parties, weddings, reunions, and so much more.
